What is Ventrilo? It is a program that lets
you chat live with others as you play and even as you don't play. It
can be active inside and outside the game.
Where do I get it?
The guild owns a server that hosts the Ventrilo program. (See below for
how to contribute to keep it going.) But there is no cost for users.
You can download the client for free at http://www.ventrilo.com . You must do
this to use ventrilo.
What else do I need? You will need a
microphone and speakers. Those with USB ports seem to work the best.
These can be separate or integrated in a headset. It depends whether
you want those around you to hear our guild chat or whether you want
others to hear what is happening around you!
How do I set it up?
Once you have downloaded the client, you will need to set it up so that
it will find our particular guild server. There are good instructions
on setting up ventrilo at http://www.ventrilo.com/tutorial.php . Our particular

Can I help pay for this?
While we used the private vent server of one of the Goddess of the Horde members for many
months, enough are now using it that we need a server supported
by the guild as a whole. Our server is used by members of Goddess and also our sister guild on Nesingwary, Goddess of the Horde, and our
brother guild on Nesingwary, Lords of the Horde. When you set it up, you will see rooms available for each guild.
In order to get a better
deal, Schade (Anne) paid the first year of $163.80 up front. You can
reimburse her and help store up funds for the second year through
paypal by clicking on the Donate button on the side panel.
This can also help pay for both the Goddess and Goddess of the Horde
websites. Accounting of funds will be provided to anyone who requests
it.
Welcome to Goddess!
We are a social and leveling guild of women and girls on the Winterhoof server. Many of us are also members of Goddess of the Horde on the Nesingwary server, and any Goddess member is always welcome to roll a toon and join our guild there.
We do not yet have the numbers to do raiding but that may be
possible as we grow. We don't aspire to be a hardcore raiding guild,
but often times those in raiding guilds will leave one or two alts with
us when they want to take a break and just have fun.
We welcome all races and classes and strive to maintain a
friendly environment for women and girls of all ages, ethnicities,
sexual orientations, and play experience. We are moms and daughters,
grandmothers and teens, disabled, working, married, partnered, and
single. We don't kick people for inactivity, it doesn't matter if you
play one day a month or fourteen hours a day, you are welcome here.
Drama and offensive behavior is addressed privately by the officers to
the parties involved and only after intervention has been tried and
failed is anyone removed from the guild. Our goal is to keep the environment respectful and fun.

Beware Phishing!
WoW has fishing dailies, but lately there are also Phishing dailies--people using the announcement of the new expansion as a way to trick you into giving up your account information. This CrunchGear article is one example: http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/09/07/beware-the-fake-wow-beta-invite-emails/ but there are others.
You will get whispers in game and see chat announcements about free mounts and all sorts of goodies, in addition to the gold sellers. These are scams. When you give out your account info, they will take your account. If you want to see if something is legit, NEVER follow a link. Anything Blizz is offering will be posted on the regular Blizz site and you will often see it in the Blizz news that you get when you open the game.
Like in life, if it seems too good to be true, it is. Do not ever, ever, ever give out your account information. It will get worse in the coming months as the expansion draws near. Goddesses beware!
Goddess Guild Rules--Keep us Happy and Drama Free!
Be A Female - This is a guild for real-life females. Your toons can be male or female but we are a guild of women and girls. You don't have to submit DNA to join, but we will remove members who are discovered to be males. We don't dislike you guys, and we're more than happy to group with you, especially if your wife or gf is in the guild. But this is a guild for female players. Please respect that. If you have a male friend or significant other who would make a good GM, we would love to have a "brother" guild for the guys like we do in our Horde guild on Nesingwary. Let us know.
Recruitment – There
are lots of potential goddesses out there, and we want them in our
guild. Help people in need and make friends outside the guild. Be an
ambassador for the Goddesses -- when you find a potential goddess that
you like, invite her to the guild. All guild members of all ranks have permission to invite.
Begging – Do
not ask strangers for free goods, services, or gold. It tarnishes the
Guild as a whole. Also, please do not ask guild members for gold. If
you need gold, please pst the Guild Master (Hera) or an officer (Muses)
and make sure to give a good reason. They will discuss your request and
get back to you.
Act Like A Goddess – Aid
other guildies – give directions, offer advice, help with quests, etc.
Remember – we all started out as “little newbies.” We are a team!
Respect Hera and the Muses – Our
Guild Master (Hera) and Officers (Muses) work hard to make sure our
guild runs smoothly. Please respect them and their requests. In
addition, if you have a problem within the guild, please pst them so
that they can help resolve it in a constructive manner.
Offer Suggestions – The guild is our home in WoW. If you have suggestions to improve the guild, please pst Hera or one of the Muses.
Give Back to the Guild – Goddesses
are giving! Guild contributions are not mandatory; however, we ask that
you please deposit items you think other guildies could use into the
guild bank. No gray items please. Also, as you advance in levels and
make more gold, please consider making monetary contributions to the
guild bank.
Guild Chat –
Be considerate of others in guild chat – no highly offensive chat
please. Remember, we do have some young guildies and want to keep chat
Goddess-rated if at all possible. Also, be supportive but
lift the mood if it starts getting heavy. It's fine to share RL issues with guildies,
but sometimes it's better to take the conversation to private chat.
Those playing WoW to escape may find too much public discussion of
problems overwhelming.
Follow the Blizz TOS and Don't Share Your Account!
Just a reminder that Blizz only allows for sharing an account if you
are a parent sharing with a minor child. While we are not going to
automatically report you for sharing with a partner, friend, or
whatever, if there are guild problems caused by the person sharing your
account, we might be forced to /gkick your toons. We will give you a
warning first, but sometimes that is hard if the warning is only sent
in game and picked up by the offending party. Please be sure you
register on this site or on Facebook so we can have a regular e-mail to

Blizzard's been hard at work adjusting a lot of WoW's game systems for Cataclysm, and one of the biggest changes in the pipeline is the overhaul of the inscription profession. You may remember the Path of the Titans alternate advancement system was axed in favor of making inscription, well, better. On top of other changes and a new UI, part of this task is adding a new tier of glyphs -- called prime glyphs -- on top of the already-existing tiers of major and minor.
